Sunrise displays Super show-stopper

Monster lithium battery system and slide out 'appliance' table among many highlights on latest top-spec Wild Warrior van

Queensland dealer Sunrise Caravans is taking off-grid caravanning in a new direction, with the release of its latest range-topping 21ft Wild Warrior off-road couple's van at this year's Queensland Caravan Supershow.

The ultra-luxury, all-terrain touring van features the latest smooth sided 'rot-free' construction now adopted across most of the Sunrise Caravan range which includes an aluminium frame and TIG welded roof roof with a honeycomb floor.

It also comes with a full-off grid 48V power package including a 9.8kWh lithium battery system (the equivalent of 800Ah at 12V), fed by 1660W rooftop solar along with a 6000W inverter and 800W DC-DC charger, that's designed to run all the on-board appliances including an air fryer, ice maker and coffee machine that are mounted permanently on an external slide-out picnic table -- believed to be a first for an Australian-built van.

Managed by a Victron management system with a Cerbo colour touchscreen, the 48V off-grid power system should have no problem running all the other electrical equipment including a 28in Smart TV and sound bar, 188 litre compressor fridge/freezer, twin burner induction cooktop, rooftop air-con and another 45 litre fridge/freezer located in an external toolbox.

Priced at a show special $154,900 (normally $164,900), the 21ft Wild Warrior off-roader also gets a Cruisemaster D0-35 coupling and 16in alloys with all-terrain tyres, a mesh stone shield, Carafan dust reduction unit, reversing camera, a slide-out kitchen and twin 95 litre fresh water and single 95 litre grey water tanks.

The luxury interior fit-out includes waterfall benchtops with distressed timber finishes, hidden cabinetry handles, mood lighting, an extra large pull-out pantry and the latest black tapware, along with a leather cafe dinette, queen walkaround mattress and upmarket ensuite with separate shower and toilet.

"It's not completely gas free as we still run a gas cooktop on the slide-out kitchen but just about everything else can run off the grid with the 48V system that's supplied by Innovation RV and is all located in a couple of offside lockers," explained Sunrise Caravans' Director, Steve Andonovski.

"The new aluminum and composite construction costs more to build than the old timber framed models but we think many buyers are willing to pay for the peace of mind as well as the better all round insulation. It's also about 100kg lighter overall," he said about the Wild Warrior van which has a Tare of 2899kg and an ATM of 3500kg.

2023 New Design Expedition caravan range also get latest 'rot free' body construction

Sunrise is also displaying its latest 2023 range of New Design Expedition off-road caravans at the Brisbane Supershow which also benefit from the more resilient aluminium framing and a TIG welded roof, along with a honeycomb floor and Aircell insulation for the body walls.

The New Design Expedition vans also come standard with Oz Trekker off-road coil suspension as well as off-grid power systems including 400Ah lithium batteries, but at a more affordable (show special) starting price of $104,900 for the 19ft 8in ensuite model.
