Melbourne motorhome specialist Sunliner has released details of its latest fifth wheel caravan model called the Houston.
Like Sunliner's Northshore fifth wheeler, which has been on the market for about eight years and connects via a tray-mounted hitch in lieu of a conventional caravan coupling, Sunliner says the new Houston fifth wheel models "have been designed for Australian and New Zealand conditions and are also light enough to be towed by a range of locally available utes, including the Ford Ranger, Nissan Navara, Toyota HiLux and Holden Colorado".
That means a loaded weight of 3500kg or less, and a maximum ball weight of 800kg according to Sunliner. Overall length varies from 7.18m to 9.38m, with a width of 2.45m and height of 3.1m.
Sunliner is yet to release full specifications and pricing of the new fifth wheelers, but the Houston is said to sleep from two to six people depending on the floorplan.
Six spacious, luxury layouts will be available, all with north-south walkaround queen beds in the front raised 'bedroom' section, with adjoining separate shower and toilet and a choice of different kitchen and lounge/dining arrangements in the rear, including three layouts with a slide-out lounge/dinette.
One of the layouts also features a full width rear bed, while another layout uses that rear space for a large enclosed 'garage' to hold bikes, generators and other larger items.
A long list of standard features are included on all Sunliner Houston models including air-conditioning, gas heating, Redarc Redvision smart management, 135Ah lithium battery, two 170W solar panels, 1000W inverter, three different size TVs (including one for outside) and a Fusion audio system, electric entry step, rollout awning, a four burner cooktop/grille/oven, microwave, 185L Dometic compressor fridge, two 9kg gas bottles, external shower, two 110L fresh water and two 110L grey water tanks, and a reversing camera.
