Sunliner plays a full Deck

Sitting under the stars on your very own outdoor balcony is now a reality for motorhome as well as caravan buyers

Last year saw the introduction of the Sky-Deck, an innovative fold-down verandah that brought balcony-style, alfresco dining to the caravan market.

Now Melbourne’s Sunliner has released its own motorhome version, simply called the Deck.

On display at the recent Melbourne Caravan Supershow, the Deck, like the Sky-Deck, offers a raised, timber-floored balcony with balustrade and enough space for a couple of deck chairs, table and perhaps a small BBQ.

But unlike the Sky-Deck, which folds out on top of the front drawbar, Sunliner's motorhome version slides out manually on heavy-duty runners from a hatch at the side, just behind the driver’s door.

The railing also folds out and locks in place, and there’s a small wind-out awning to provide some shade.

Supported by drop-down caravan stabilizers, the Deck sits about two feet off the ground and entry is from inside via a full-sized door, opposite the normal entry door.??

Displaying a driveaway price of $189,990, the Sunliner Deck at the Melbourne show was based on a tandem-axle Fiat Ducato but is also available with the Iveco Daily.

Dave Murray from Sunliner dealer, Albury Wodonga RV World said the Sunliner Deck “created a lot of interest” at the show, although no-one was enamored enough to put down a deposit.?

“It might not be everyone’s cup of tea but everybody wants to stop and have a look,” he said.?

Proving more popular on the Sunliner stand was the re-introduction of the limited-release, 25ft Twist motorhome. Equipped with a slide-out dinette and ‘dry’ ensuite, the Iveco-based Twist model attracted at least one buyer willing to fork out the $159,990 asking price.

The Sunliner Deck will be on display at other RV shows this year, with the level of buyer interest determining whether it will become a regular model in the Sunliner range.??
