Sunland joins box camper brigade

New 10ft Mini composite camper designed for fast overland travel

Queensland off-road caravan specialist Sunland has entered the fast-growing box camper market.

Launched at the recent Let’s Go Brisbane Caravan & Outdoor Sale, the new Sunland Mini hard-wall camper joins a growing number of 'box' camper models to hit the market recently, including the new SniperX.9 and Sierra from Queensland rivals AOR and NorthCoast.

Built with a full fibreglass composite 'sandwich panel' construction similar to Sunland's full-size caravan models, the new 10ft (3.05m body length) Mini is designed for off-road adventures with a galvanised steel chassis and Cruisemaster DO-35 coupling and XT coil independent suspension, drum brakes and 16in alloy wheels fitted as standard.

Cooking is outside on a slide-out Dometic kitchen, with hot and cold running water from a 60 litre water tank and instant gas  hot water system. There's also a couple of gas bottles and spare tyre on the drawbar.

The cosy interior includes a couple of seats along with a double bed flanked by a variety of cupboards and shelving. There's also a spot for the portable toilet and 40 litre 12V fridge, while the 100Ah lithium battery is backed up by two 180W roof-top solar panels.

Targetting buyers with smaller tow vehicles, the Sunland Mini has a Tare weight of around 928kg and 1600kg ATM.

The Sunland Mini had 'show special' pricing at the Let's Go Brisbane show of $32,990, but is currently being advertised at $39,990 drive-away for 2020-build orders. Options include an audio system and external shower.

As well as reducing the set-up time compared to a lightweight canvas camper, Sunland says interior height of the fixed roof Mini camper is sufficient for smaller adults to stand up without stooping.

Like other Sunland models, the Mini camper comes with a five year factory warranty as well as a 20 year warranty on the chassis.
