Sydney's Suncamper is the latest RV manufacturer to hop on the 'buy a renter' bandwagon.
Suncamper displayed its cut-price 'Summer Series' campervan at this year's NSW Caravan Camping Holiday Supershow, trying to entice both cash-strapped and first-time buyers with a more affordable RV option.
Partnering with national RV hiring platform Camplify, Suncamper is offering its compact LDV G10+-based campervan for just $54,999, with the added incentive of owners being able to pay it off by potentially earning up to $15,000 annually through rental fees.
Befitting its budget price, the LDV Suncamper model is fitted out with the basics for camping, including a double-sided lounge'dinette which converts into a double bed, and some kitchen gear in the rear cargo space including a 12V 30 litre portable fridge powered by a 75Ah battery and 135W solar panel, a portable butane stove and a fixed sink with a tap connected to a 43 litre water tank.
The 5.168m long display model also had a side awning and roof bars fitted with a mountain bike and surfboard, highlighting the week-end getaway possibilities for potential owners and hirers.
One of Australia's cheapest commercial vans, the two-seat LDV G10+ was recently upgraded with a more powerful 118kW/375Nm 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine, paired with an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission.
The G10+ van also comes standard with twin sliding side doors, rear lift-up tailgate, 16-inch alloy wheels, air-conditioning, cruise control, parking sensors, and a 7.0-inch infotainment unit with Apple CarPlay and Bluetooth.
Suncamper has joined other local RV manufacturers including New Age and Track Trailer in offering 'turn key' rental vehicle and management schemes for participating owners.
