Do you remember back in 2012 when Melbourne's Concept Caravans built a caravan in record time, thanks to some nifty video editing?
As it turns out the YouTube video has proven a big hit over the years, recently clocking up one million views - not bad for a 'one shot' take of the humble 'stick and tin' construction method that hasn't changed much for many Melbourne caravan manufacturers in the eight years since!
In reality, it took a working week to shoot the Concept Belmont caravan shown in the footage, but some clever editing managed to compress five days of work into five minutes.
Founded in 2003 and now building a range of caravans under the Franklin, Viscount and Newlands brand names, Concept Caravans came up with the idea as a way to show customers exactly how one of their caravans is manufactured.
The time-lapse video was put together by advertising specialists CD Media, and provided a fascinating, frame-by-frame insight into the labour-intensive construction of a traditional style, Meranti framed/aluminium-bodied caravan.
The bird's-eye view images for the video were taken at 30 second intervals from September 12-16, 2011, courtesy of a camera installed on 10ft-high wheeled scaffolding at Concept's factory in Somerton, Victoria.
