The entry-price for a Zone RV luxury off-road caravan is now significantly less, with the Queensland manufacturer under new owners introducing new stripped-back Base models, starting at $149,500, to its updated 2027 range.
On display at the recent Melbourne Leisurefest, the new Base variants can be ordered with either 19ft Peregrine or 21ft Sojourn layouts, and cost about $40,000 less than the 'full fruit' Pioneer-grade models.

To help reduce the price Zone has fitted an aluminium rather than composite front toolbox, coil ATX suspension rather than adjustable airbags, and a cheaper entry door.
The fit-out inside while still premium is also missing some items as standard, like an air conditioner and diesel heater, while off-grid power is also reduced.
For example, instead of a 628Ah lithium battery pack with Redarc 960W solar and Redarc Manager Alpha 100 fitted as standard to Zone's Peregrine Pioneer off-grid caravan, the Peregrine Base version makes do with 628Ah batteries, Arizon 440W solar panels and a Redarc Manager Alpha 50.

The Base also gets drum rather than disc brakes, 16in rather than 17in wheels, and misses out on the WITI anti-theft system fitted as standard to the top-spec Pioneer model.
A full spec-by-spec comparison can be made on the Zone RV website.

Zone last offered a budget Base model back in 2020, priced as low as $79,000, but the latest Base 'vans start at close to double that, partly due to the increased cost of local manufacturing and pricier fittings like lithium battery systems.
However, at about 20 per cent less than the up-spec offerings, they should prove a hit with more cost-conscious buyers and attract more interest in the reborn Zone RV range, which also includes the award-winning Expedition pop-top and hardtop, which now starts at $199,450, or about $20K more than at its 2025 launch.
Interestingly, the new Base models are about 40kg heavier unloaded than the carbon fibre-enhanced Pioneer versions, despite the reduction in standard kit.
