The short-term future of a Melbourne-based importer of Chinese-built campers and hybrids is in doubt, after the established business emptied and abandoned its showroom premises earlier this week without alerting some of its customers.
The surprise evacuation at Star Vision Camper's Dandenong South retail outlet, has left some customers in the lurch, including one who placed a deposit in November but was yet to receive her new 'van.
“Crickets. We’ve tried multiple phone calls, multiple emails, nothing,” the Star Vision customer told 7News.

A worker at the business next door said some mattresses were left on the roadside after the showroom was emptied and the gates were locked.
"Overnight they were gone, basically,” he said. "To move everything out of there so quickly and just disappear is a pretty good effort."
Calls to Star Vision's 1300 hotline are going unanswered, with the RV importer posting on social media that the sudden departure was "due to water leakage issues at our Melbourne showroom".
"We are currently in the process of securing a new location. As a result, some customer orders may experience delays in delivery," the dealer said.
"We take our responsibility to customers seriously and have arranged refunds of deposits for all customers who have paid. If you believe your refund may have been missed, please contact us as soon as possible at info@starvision.com.au, and we will arrange it promptly. Thank you for your understanding and support."

In business for close to 17 years, Star Vision's off-road hybrids and caravans are a regular fixture at caravan shows, including popular Caravan Industry Victoria events like the Melbourne Leisurefest and Victorian Caravan Supershow.
The business also has an outlet in Brisbane and is best known for offering cut-price copies of more expensive Aussie-built expedition-style campers, while fitting features you don't normally see in a sub-$80,000 caravan, like starry ceiling LED lighting and electric drop-down coffee machines.
Star Vision also sells a line of flashy hardtop models under the Captain RV brand, as well as $2.5million Heysea yachts.
