You don't need a travelling companion -- or at least some-one in the passenger seat beside you -- if the regular get-togethers of the CMCA Solos Network are anything to go by.
Described as a "support network for solo travellers", the Solos Network is a thriving sub-section of the Campervan and Motorhome Club of Australia and boasts as many as 1000 members, or around two per cent of overall CMCA membership.
The Solos Network runs two week-long rallies each year, along with tagalong trips for participants that belong to 'chapters' in all states of Australia except for South Australia and the Northern Territory.
More than 200 'solo' travellers are set to gather at Cohuna in Victoria, along the Murray River, for the second Solo Rally of 2019.
The 200 recreational vehicles, mostly motorhomes, will set up camp at the Cohuna Recreation Reserve from November 8-15, with some of the attendees also planning to take part in The Big Cohuna Festival held the week prior.
A Mexican theme for the 2019 Solo Rally, should see a few participants dress up in sombreros and ponchos, while other activities planned include cruises along Gunbower Creek, tennis matches, evening gatherings and performances, dances and barefoot bowls sessions.
A market day and open day will also be held at the Cohuna Recreation Reserve on November 10 from 9am to 2pm, including a 'show and shine' for local residents.
It's all for a good cause too, with proceeds raised during the Solo Rally to be donated to the Cohuna Fire Brigade and the Gannawarra Giving Account.
