Snowy River launches 'best value' 48V caravans

Snowy River Caravans says its first range of 48V off-grid models that it's unveiling to the public later this week, are the best value 48V caravans available on the Australian market.

On display for the first time at the 2026 Melbourne Leisurefest, running October 1-4 at the Sandown Racecourse, the new 48V lithium battery systems are standard across all Snowy River SRT full height off-road caravans for 2027, plus the latest SRH pop-top hybrids and SRM-22 motorhome released last year.

The lithium batteries and associated 48V electricals are supplied by BMPro and Autory, and will include up to a 10kW battery, 4000W inverter and 950W rooftop solar on some models.

Price rises are limited to $2000-$3000 in most cases, compared to MY26 12V models.

"While other manufacturers add around $10k to their price tags for 48V, Snowy’s price rises are minimal, presenting incredible value," the 11-year old international RV brand said in a media release.

Available in body lengths from 16ft-22ft, the MY27 SRT off-road caravan range is priced from $83,990 to $94,990 tow-away, and includes either 5kW battery/700W solar or 10kW battery/950W solar set-ups, plus a 4000W inverter and 48V 30A DC-DC charger.

Previously, SRT 'vans with 12V electrical systems were priced from $85,990-$92,990 tow-away, and came with a 400Ah lithium battery, 600W solar, 2000W inverter and Projecta manager.

Available in 13ft-16ft body lengths, the new MY27 SRH hybrid range is priced from $62,990 to $67,990 tow-away, and includes either a 5kWh battery/700W solar or 10kW battery/800W solar set-up.

In comparison, the MY26 12V SRH range was priced $59,990-$65,990 tow-away and included a 600Ah lithium battery, 800W solar, Renogy manager, and up to 3000W inverter.

The LDV-based SRM-22 motorhome introduced in early-2026 now gets a 5kWh battery/200W solar set-up boosting the price to $136,990 drive-away; up from $129,990 for the MY26 SRM-22 with 12V 100Ah lithium/200W solar set-up.

The new 48V models also get a complementary Dometic 48V air conditioner and induction cooktop in most cases.

Snowy River said its updated MY27 caravan and motorhome range also gets new colour themes, additional layouts, and upgraded specifications.

The MY27 SRT range adds new 16ft, 19ft family and 22ft layouts, while the SR-Xplore coil suspension introduced on the SRH hybrid range and recently the subject of a recall, is now fitted as standard on all MY27 SRT 'vans.

"This is the broadest set of changes Snowy River Caravans has introduced in a single model year," the company said.

Snowy River said the new BMPro off-grid set-up is "a bespoke 48V system engineered specifically for the MY27 range, rather than adapted from an off-the-shelf solution... delivering faster charging, greater efficiency, and the ability to run more appliances at once, without compromise".

It's believed to be the first 48V system developed by BMPro which has previously supplied 12V power equipment to a number of Aussie OEM manufacturers including Jayco and New Age.

"Our new MY27 range of SRH, SRM and SRT is here, and it changes what 'standard' means. Every
model runs 48V technology, engineered in Australia for Snowy River by BMPro, at a price you'd expect to pay for 12V," Snowy River Caravans CEO Andrew Crank said.

Snowy River is one of the last big Aussie RV brands to roll out more efficient but costlier 48V battery systems across its range.

It follows other big selling importers like MDC which also recently introduced sharply-priced 48V caravans in the $100-$120K range. While Snowy's main rival Jayco released its Australian-built 48V Adventurer caravan range earlier this year, currently priced from $104,990 tow-away.

The new MY27 Snowy River 48V models are set to roll out across the brand's nationwide dealership network in coming months.
