Smooth selling for Supreme

A new line up of smooth-sided Supreme caravans will help mark big-selling brand’s 30th Anniversary
Melbourne’s Supreme Caravans will mark its upcoming 30th Anniversary in September with a blitz of five new models – each clearly identified by their smooth composite aluminium walls that the company is employing for the first time.
Four of the new caravans – from a single axle 18 foot model to a rear club lounge tandem axle 22 footer, will be branded clearly as ‘30th Anniversary Edition’ models and will be heavily optioned with the best available appliances, electrics and materials.
All new models are based on Supreme’s own ‘Road King’ 150mm x 50mm boxed steel chassis that sits on 16in wheels, while the buyer’s choice of silver or white Alucobond exterior aluminium wall cladding over a traditional Meranti wall fame sits above 800mm high black checker plate lower stone protection.
This represents the first time that Supreme has departed from traditional corrugated aluminium cladding since brothers Frank and Karl Prosenik began building their first off-road caravan in their backyard in the late 1980s.
Extras included on 30th Anniversary Edition models include upgraded Ranger windows, upmarket ‘waterfall’-edged 36mm ply bench tops, upgraded solar, new mirror splashbacks, extra external lighting and internal downlighting, a new ‘no sag’ drawer system with 12mm ply bases and a quality leather-clad lounge.
A large front boot, plus a full 505mm x 505mm tunnel boot behind it combine to offer massive external storage, while a larger 4kg top-loading washing machine housed in the van’s rear separate shower and toilet ensuite is standard, as is an external generator hatch on larger models.
However a surprise fifth addition to the new 2017 Supreme model range that will be shown to dealers at the company’s gala black tie dinner on September 2 is a new entry-level model.
Based on Supreme’s ribbed aluminium-clad Classic, the new Classic Tourer also features the same choice of smooth white or silver Alucobond cladding and high-gloss interior cabinetry of its 30th Anniversary edition brethren, but comes loaded with extras such as both a front and three-quarter tunnel boot, black or silver checkplate stone protection, a 150mm x 50mm boxed chassis, 184-litre Thetford D604 fridge/freezer and external speakers.
With a RRP of $56,990 before haggling starts, the classic Tourer costs around $5000 more than the basic Classic, but it already has caught the imagination of buyers, with Supreme claiming nine sold from its ‘soft launch’ at the recent Border Caravan and Camping Expo.
Prices are yet to be confirmed for the 30th Anniversary Edition models, but they’re expected to represent a substantial saving on the cost of selecting the options for a regular Supreme caravan of similar dimensions.
