Turn-key campervans based on the Toyota HiLux ute are readily available in Australia, including rugged examples from Melbourne's Sunliner, Sydney's Suncamper and Queensland's Explorer.
But it's hard not to be impressed by the glossy factory-finish look of this latest HiLux-based motorcamper from Tokyo, Japanese-based campervan conversion specialist Direct Cars.

Based on the dual-cab version of the popular one-tonne ute, the BR75 SUV Adventure Camper is available in two variants: the Hilux Z-based BR75-G and higher-spec Hilux GR Sport-based BR75-Z.
There's walk-through access to the rear living area from inside via the driver's cab, or externally from two doors including a large rear entrance hatch, with the interior fit-out on the pop-top camper module including a few storage options along with sleeping for up to four on a dinette that turns into a large bed, and another pull-down bed.

The glossy BR75 camper also gets external power outlets, a touchscreen control panel, 105L fresh water and 45L grey tanks, along with a 200Ah battery system fed by 200W roof-mounted solar panels.
There's no mention of a kitchenette in the online specs, but there is a sink with extendable hose attached to the large internal shower/wet room, along with a large mirror, folding table and other "facilities that make women happy".
Z-spec variants get a few extras like a side-mounted pull-out awning and an additional window on the rear hatch. There's also the option of fitting a domestic air conditioner, with the external compressor located in the underbody behind a protective front guard.
And in a clever case of recycling, the ute's original rear tub removed during the conversion has been turned into an off-road trailer than can be towed behind the off-road vehicle.

The Direct Cars BR75 Toyota Hilux Adventure Camper was displayed at the 2023 Japan Camping Car Show, with prices starting at ¥10,980,000 (around AUD$120,000).
