Kea Motorhomes has updated one of its biggest models, the four-berth Dreamtime, adding extra features and design enhancements based on customer feedback.
The Ford Transit-based Dreamtime now features an L-shaped rear lounge, including a new mechanism which more easily converts the lounge into a second double bed.
"Previously the rear bed was more of a jigsaw puzzle to put together, utilising the table as well as boards stored under the rear seats," Kea's National Vehicle Sales Manager, Norman Roe, explained.
"The improved design features a slat bed-base which slides out easily from the rear right hand seat."
Other new features include a large extra storage bin underneath the vehicle, and a diesel air heater to complement the standard roof-mounted air-conditioner.
The 2011 Dreamtime also gains an integrated reversing camera and GPS system, and a more sturdy, Kea-designed stair-ladder for improved safety.
There’s also a bigger range of options when it comes to fabric for the cushions and curtains.
"Previous versions (of the Dreamtime) were ex-rental for sale (these are still available); it's possible to upgrade fabrics in ex-rental motorhomes but this takes time and the range of fabric choices offered is limited," Roe said.
"As this new Dreamtime is available brand new it's possible to offer a wider variety of soft furnishing options."
Roe said the improvements made to the Dreamtime were based on suggestions from the market.
"Having our own state-of-the-art manufacturing plant gives us the ability to introduce changes such as these quickly and easily," he said.
Pricing for the 2011 Kea Dreamtime remains the same as the previous version, from $134,500. The new model will also be progressively rolled out onto Kea's rental fleet.
As an end-of-financial-year promotion, Kea is offering a three-year mechanical warranty for all Dreamtime motorhomes purchased before June 30.
