Van Cruiser builds a range of campers from tiny teardrop vans to spacious family tourers, so it’s no surprise the versatile, Melbourne-based manufacturer has come up with something a bit different again in the form of a compact camper trailer with super-sized kitchen and storage areas.
Finished just days before the opening of the 2011 Victorian Caravan, Camping & Touring Supershow, and with the sawdust still settling inside the wooden cabinets, the grey-themed Silver Bullit camper trailer caused a few 'oohs' and 'aghhs' from show-goers when we popped by for a look, particularly from women with comments including "stylish", "flashy", "gorgeous" and "it’s beautiful".
The pop-top camper trailer can accomodate up to four people with a a slide-out, queen-sized bed at one end, an L-shaped lounge (which converts to two single beds) and removable dining table, with the remaining wallspace taken up a large L-shaped bench and numerous, hip-high cabinets.
The kitchen appliances include a 110 litre Waeco fridge but surprisingly, considering the ample benchspace, a combination Dometic three-burner stovetop with stainless steel sink was fitted rather than separate units.
Other internal features include a 240V hot water unit with mains pressure, 12V and 240V points, LED lighting, and internal/external TV points.
Up front there’s a large powdercoated steel storage box on the drawbar, alongside 2 x 4kg gas bottle rings, Al-Ko off-road hitch and jockey wheel.
The Silver Bullit is also fitted with a Shurflo water pump and 69 litre water tank, off-road suspension, two jerry can holders on the rear bumper, 15 inch off-road tyres, electric brakes, and a 100aH AGM battery pack with battery charger.
The body is constructed from aluminium composite panels and the tent sides and awning are made from 12oz Australian-made canvas.
Measuring 3.5 long by 2.1m wide, and with a Tare weight of 1040kg, the $26,990 Silver Bullit is set up for couples or small families who want to carry plenty of gear securely inside the camper.
