Sunland Caravans is known for its top-end off-road caravans, not to mention the odd big-ticket custom creation. But now the Queensland manufacturer under new Victorian owners, has raised the bar and pulled out all stops for its latest show-stopper, the 23ft 6in tandem axle LTD ADU (Aussie Destinations Unknown) Edition.
The first top-spec Sunland LTD Edition couple's caravan built in collaboration with Youtubers Aussie Destinations Unknown, is loaded up with features including Sunland's 4500kg aluminium/steel chassis and fibreglass sandwich panel body, Cruisemaster DO-45 coupling, electric awning and powered jockey wheel, tough poly water tanks, and Method Race alloy wheels with Yokahama Geolander rubber.
The gas-free LTD ADU model is also one of the first Aussie vans fitted with both Bosch ABS and Cruisemaster's latest ATX BSC (Body Control System) airbag suspension.
Other external highlights include an in-built 45L diesel tank for the combo heater, front and rear Baja light bars, Fusion stereo, twin picnic tables, a slide-out kitchen with electric smoker, electric entry steps, and a massive front box with slide-out for a couple of Specialized electric mountain bikes.
There's also space on top of the front box to store a foldable trailer for the tinny mounted on the intrepid couple's highly modified Chevrolet HD2500 tow vehicle. The Sunland LTD has a Tare of around 3500kg, with an ATM of 4500kg.
The LTD ADU premium couple's van also gets the latest Enerdrive off-grid power system including a 900Ah lithium battery bank, twin inverters (2600W and 3000W) and 2200W rooftop solar, plus an Australian RV industry first digital switching system.
Designed for luxury yachts, the Simarine Nereide 2 monitoring system includes a large touchscreen and multiple standard and combo switches, located both inside and outside, which are fully programmable.
The twin inverter set-up allows multiple appliances to be run simultaneously, including the 3kg washer dryer, rooftop air-conditioner, 216L compressor fridge, microwave, induction cooktop, Smart TV and separate bathroom heater, when camping off-the-grid.
There's also 580L fresh, 60L drinking and 130L grey water capacity, while the above-average storage includes flip-up bedside cubby holes and shoe boxes, located around the comfy north-south queen mattress.
The designer fit-out includes AVI sinks and tapware, American walnut furniture veneer, Italian leather upholstery, mood lighting, movable reading lights, and a massive rear bathroom with corner shower cubicle and off-grid 'separation' toilet. There's also a Gusto Plus dust-reduction unit to keep it all nice and clean along Outback highways.
Price? The fully optioned Sunland LTD ADU comes in at $306,000, but budget for around $240K for the standard LTD model.
The first 23ft 6in Sunland LTD ADU is currently touring the east-coast show circuit, visiting Gold Coast, Melbourne and Adelaide caravan shows...
