Shiny makeover for Coromal Element

Mid-priced caravan range from West Australian manufacturer gets the latest bright, glossy look

Coromal has injected a splash of colour and gloss into its mid-spec Element range of fixed-roof caravans.

Buyers can now choose from blue, orange and grey decals on the aluminium sided exterior while a new gloss finish on the fresh, flush-fit furniture inside is available in six colours, from black to burgundy.

There are also six colour choices for the fabric and eight for the leather upholstery covering the lounge/dinette.

Unveiled at this month’s Melbourne Leisurefest, the 2016 Element range comes in single and tandem axle models, in four body sizes from 5.5 to 6.6m (18-22ft).

Pricing is in the ultra-competitive $50,000 to $70,000 bracket, and there are nine layouts available, all with ensuites. A tenth ‘surprise’ layout is set to be revealed at next year’s Melbourne Supershow.

Speaking at the show Darren Raven, the National Events Coordinator at Perth-based Fleetwood RV which builds Coromal and Windsor caravans, said the company had “reinvented the entre, inside and outside" of the Element range, introduced in 2013 .

Inside changes include new, soft-closing, flush-fitting kitchen drawers that mimic the latest, design trends in domestic kitchens.

“Now we’ve put that choice into our caravans so when people are sitting down, the woman can walk into the van and go wow, this is absolutely fantastic. This looks like the kitchen I want at home,” Raven said.

He joked the only problem if you buy one will be “you might have a van that looks better than your kitchen and bathroom at home”.

Two Element 612S models were displayed at Leisurefest: a standard, on-road version priced from $58,650 and a rough-road version with optional RTV pack ($4999) that adds 150W roof solar panel, 150 x 50mm A-frame, 16in black alloy wheels and off-road tyres, off-road leaf suspension and a lower body covering and front toolbox made from black checker plate.

Josh Ryland from Victorian Coromal dealer the Melbourne Caravan Centre said the bright new Element vans proved a hit at the show, attracting 14 buyers over the four days.
