Sealvans tackles both land and sea

Go for a splash in your caravan with this stylish new offshore 'caraboat' option

For some people on limited budgets, having to make the choice between a boat or a caravan can be a hard decision.

For those who can't make up their mind, there have always been variety of 'caraboats' on offer, from those that stylishly slide off a trailer to more houseboat-like models that float on a pontoon base, plus the odd ridiculous one-off creation.

Stylish Sealvan is the latest 'caraboat' to hit the market

Now Turkish start-up Sealvans is doing its own take on the 'land yacht' theme with the online release of two new streamlined models sold under the catchphrase of 'Break the limits'.

Described as 'amphibious vehicles', two Sealvans models are available: the Seal 4.2m (4.2m body length) and larger Seal 7.5m.

According to Sealvans, both offer "the possibility of camping on land and the pleasure of cruising in water with an external engine".

They're also described as "a luxury boat caravan designed to meet all your basic needs" and both come equipped with "modern and high quality equipment".

Both designs get a rear, fold-down timber 'deck' while the larger model boasts a luxury boat style lounge-dinette inside that converts into a double bed at night, with another 'bedroom' available to sleep up to four people in total.

Sealvans uses AL-KO chassis, suspension and coupling

The galley includes a fridge/freezer, built-in hob/oven and wide countertop, plus there's an ensuite with shower and toilet.

The 4.2m model weighs 1450kg fully loaded, while the 7.2m can weigh up to three tonnes. Both get side and panoramic roof windows, with blinds and mosquito nets for all windows except the bathroom's.

They roll on either single or tandem axle, galvanized AL-KO chassis, with the bigger model getting 70 litres fresh water and 70 litres grey water tanks, a 60 litre fuel tank, and two 80Ah house batteries.

The CNC modelled designs are constructed of a "monoblock complete marine technology outer fiber," and options available include a traditional outboard or electric engine, teak coating, 'smart' tablet, TV with electric folding mechanism, air-conditioner and hot water and space heater.

No pricing is listed on the Sealvans website but by the looks of them, they won't come cheap!
