Another well-known Aussie caravan manufacturer has fallen into the hands of the receivers, although there's a chance of 'resurrection' for Traveller Caravans with its intellectual property currently being offered for sale.
'Expressions of interest' are being called for the IP assets of Traveller Caravans which operated from a factory in Melbourne's north over the past 10 years. The company was wound up in early-August and Matthew Kucianski of Worrells appointed as liquidator.
The IP assets for sale include the Traveller Caravans business name, the Travellercaravans.com.au domain name, logo and branding, and 14 trademarks.
Offers above $15,000 will be considered, and must be directed to Xcllusive Business Sales in Balmain, NSW by no later than 2pm, October 4.
The broker said that by acquiring the Traveller Caravans' IP assets, the new owner has options to either re-commence trade or bolt them onto an existing operation.
The long-standing manufacturing business was founded by George Andonovski in 1984, who was once described as "a hands-on craftsman and a stickler for detail." After starting out building cabinets, Traveller grew to become one of Australia’s quality medium-size caravan builders, with sufficient sales for it to move into a new purpose-built factory in Campbellfield, Victoria in 2013.
"Traveller gained a reputation for building simple, inexpensive caravans that offered real value for money," another reviewer of a Traveller caravan said.
Before its website was shut down, Traveller Caravans also described itself online as "the best caravan manufacturer in the country".
