Melbourne manufacturer Lotus Caravans is recalling more than 200 caravans due to safety concerns around the use of some external slide-out kitchens.
The affected vans are Lotus Off Grid, Trooper, Freelander, and Tremor models and Universal Hollywood and Transformer models sold between January 1, 2016 and June 29, 2018.
According to a nationwide alert on the ACCC website, there is a risk of burns when using some Lotus caravans fitted with a Weber Q1000 due to the BBQ being "modified to facilitate its installation (in the slide-out kitchen)".
"This has resulted in the temperature of the surrounding stainless steel surfaces exceeding the relevant gas standard's requirements.
"If the surfaces overheat, there is an increased risk of burn injuries," the ACCC said.
Owners with affected caravans are advised to "stop using their slide out kitchen and contact their closest Lotus Caravans dealership to schedule an appointment for rectification".
Suppliers included Alan Grahams, Brisbane RVs, Chapman Caravans, Dave Benson Caravans, Freestyle RVs, Gateway Caravans, Gold Coast Caravan Sales, Harbour City Caravans, Hervey Bay Caravans, Ian Grant's Caravans, Lotus Caravans, Luxury RVs WA and Wagga Caravans Centre.
