The ACCC has announced a national recall of 446 imported motorhomes due to safety concerns around the use of gas appliances.
The ACCC said there’s a risk that gas cylinder compartments in some MyRV-Auto-Trail models may not be correctly sealed or vented. Gas safety labelling could also be non-compliant, and they could also be incorrectly located and the wrong size for the living area's ventilation.
The ACCC said there is a risk of carbon monoxide poisoning from any gas leaks, or explosion or fire due to possible defects in the affected motorhomes.
"Consumers can continue to use their gas appliances but should have the windows, door or roof vent open for more ventilation until the vehicle is repaired," the recall notice said.
Models which could be affected include Auto-Trail-MyRV NB variants (Apache, FB, Delaware); MyRV - Fiat Ducato II Series (FB, EB, EKS, Imala, Delaware, Scout); MyRV-AL-KO Fiat Ducato II TA (Comanche); and MyRV -AL-KO Fiat Ducato II SA (Delaware, Scout).
The motorhomes were sold at a number of dealers around Australia between August 2, 2012, and November 20, 2020.
Affected owners will be contacted by email, phone or direct mail, and consumers should contact their nearest Elite RV Service Centre via to arrange for modifications to the installation, free of charge.
