Safety recall for Goldstar vans

Chinese vans with aluminium chassis recalled over safety fears
Goldstar RV is recalling some of its Chinese-built caravans due to safety concerns around the strength of the drawbar.
The recall applies to Goldstar vans built with an aluminium chassis.
“The structural longevity of the draw-bar is uncertain on some caravan models constructed with an aluminium chassis due to the absence of strengthening gussets,” the South Australia-based company said.
“This could lead to potential failure of the draw-bar, posing a potential accident risk for road users.”
Goldstar RV has not specified how many vans are affected, but says it will contact owners directly. Affected owners will be sent additional gussets and Goldstar will arrange for the repair at an approved caravan repairer. However, the gussets will need to be given to the caravan repairer.
Goldstar launched its
range of cut-price Chinese caravans in Australia around four years ago and has sold a number of different models, under various brand names throughout Australia including at one stage, Sundowner in Victoria.
