The ACCC has announced a national recall of 149 imported motorhomes due to safety concerns around the use of the internal gas oven.
The ACCC said there’s a risk that gas pipes to ovens in some Adria motorhomes could spring a leak, potentially leading to fire or carbon monoxide poisoning.
“The gas oven inside the motorhome may not be securely mounted, which could cause a possible rupture of the oven inlet gas line, resulting in a possible gas leak," the ACCC said.
“In the event of a gas leak from the oven inlet gas line, LPG gas may accumulate within the enclosed area of the caravan and there may be risk of carbon monixide poisoning or fire, which could result in serious illness, injury or death.”
The ACCC said AMH Products Pty Ltd will contact affected owners in writing to request that owners make an appointment to have their vehicle modified free of charge.
In the meantime, consumers have been told to stop using the gas oven and isolate the oven by turning off the oven gas isolation valve.
Adria Coral models which could be affected include 660 DU, Plus 660 DU, 660 SCS, Plus 660 SCS and XL 660 SCS. The motorhomes were sold between 1 January 2014 and 12 November 2020 at retailers including Kratzmann Caravans in Queensland, Sydney RV in NSW, George Day Caravans in Western Australia, Patto’s RV Centre in Victoria and Apollo RV outlets in Queensland, NSW, Victoria, South Australia, Northern Territory and Tasmania.
