At April’s Sydney Caravan and Camping Supershow the Federal Minister for Tourism, Fran Bailey, officially launched the first of three Caravan Safari Trails.
The first safari, travelling from Sydney to Cairns, has 37 participants travelling in caravans, campervans, motorhomes and camper trailers.
Initiated by the Caravan, Recreational Vehicle and Accommodation Industry of Australia (CRVA) after receiving a Federal Government grant of $250,000, the Safaris are designed to promote tourism throughout Australia using recreational vehicles of all kinds as the primary form of transport and accommodation.
Two further Safaris are planned later this year, one to WA, The Wildflowers and Goldfields Trail, and the other through Vic and SA, The Murray and Wine Trail.
