CHEAP TASSIE CAMPSITES
Ken Kipping is just another example of what has become rife in our society; wanting others to pay. The CMCA (members) are the worst; paying up to $750,000 for their rigs and then being tight-fisted on what others (ratepayers) have to pay for the joy of their company! – Mission Chris
CHEAP TASSIE CAMPSITES II
If the (Tasmanian) government goes ahead with this they are mad. Don't they realise that if we stay in these free or low cost areas we still spend money in their towns.
I travelled to Tassie a couple of years ago staying for nearly three months and although I only spent four nights in caravan parks I still supported all the towns we stayed near. So if you want to keep people like myself coming to visit your isle don't take this path. You have a good thing going, don't spoil it. - Mal Gow
CHEAP TASSIE CAMPSITES III
As it currently stands my wife and I would rather spend the $2K going to Europe instead of wasting all that money and then paying exorbitant park fees as well. Our limited funds can be much better spent.. - Matt Lowe
CHEAP TASSIE CAMPSITES IV
(If the campsites cost more) we would then not travel to Tassie. We had 10 weeks in 2009, staying in free or cheap campgrounds until it became too cold, but that was what offset our (Spirit of Tasmania) fare of $1700 - Gil Larsson
ANOTHER TYRE TIP
Tyres more than five-years old loaded to near maximum are more likely to fail. The tyres should be replaced every seven years even if they have good tread on them - David McDonald
WORLD-FIRST PARK BOOKER?
Interesting they are claiming a world first when they are well aware that FindAPark app has not only won the Western Australian best phone app but also the Australian for best new phone app of the year, and has been on the market for quite some time. Perhaps Mr Schleibs should have researched his market a little more thoroughly - Craig Glenister.
* While the FindAPark app covers more than just BIG4 parks, we’re pretty sure it doesn’t have an online booking function whereas the BIG4 mobile site does.
TOP TENT TIPS
As someone who has spent a lot of time outdoors and camping all over the world, I found the article on buying a tent informative and straight to the point with some very good advice - Terry Preece
TOP TENT TIPS II
Excellent advice on tenting, from purchase to use. We are avid tenters, enjoying many locations up and down the NSW Coast as well as inland dams etc over the past 30 odd years. We believe a break away should be as close to nature as possible. Tenting is the way to go so keep making them - Greg Sargent
TOP TENT TIPS III
I thoroughly enjoyed reading the tent buying article. Despite it appearing heavy going, it proves the author knows what he is talking about.
Such detailed info and tips can only make tent-camping all that much more enjoyable.
Following such sage advice can make a big difference between camping being a once-only dismal experience, or a lifetime of regular, wonderful, inexpensive, long or short getaways - Craig Beasy
RURAL RIP-OFF
I find all the motor industry journalists have taken the snow job bait from Toyota. A base model for $80Kon road for the working man of family living and working in the regional centres is a total rip off ... – Dave.
* Dave, we didn’t say it wasn’t expensive; just cheaper than some other LandCruiser variants.
RURAL RIP-OFF II
$78K for a base level 4WD? Honestly what are they thinking? You can get a 2.7 Discovery 4 for this money and be better off road and more comfortable to boot - Ian
OUTSIDE THE SQUARE
Shame they didn't look outside the square a bit more and include a VW Touareg. The Volkswagen is more capable than all these others with 3500kg braked towing capacity and 350kg on the ball. Plus, even fully optioned the V6TDI comes in cheaper than all the others! Makes you think. If you use the Touareg V10 twin-turbo diesel, you get 750Nm of torque. Absolute towing value for money and fuel economy too – KXD
SATISFIED AND SIGNED UP
Since first reading this article we have examined this opportunity inside out, using our solicitors and accountant. We have found it to be a genuine offer, backed by a legally binding contract. Yes it's a little different, but along with several others, we have signed up and are keen to get going! I hope others can get involved too. Thanks for making us aware of it through your article - Rick Brownhill
