RV Homebase ready to roll

Work is progressing on Queensland's only master-planned, over 50s RV village

It's running a little behind schedule due to the Queensland floods, but "Queensland’s first RV focused residential community for caravan and motorhome owners" is almost ready to officially open its gates.

Since work started on the 210 home residential development on Queensland’s Fraser Coast in mid-2010, the $73 million RV Homebase project has reached the point where the first two display homes and most of the community facilities are complete, with another seven homes scheduled for completion by July 2011.

"After a few planning approval delays and a horrendously wet summer, building work onsite is now progressing rapidly," was the latest update from an information booklet handed out at this week's Queensland Caravan, Camping & Touring Holiday Show.

A variety of new house packages are available, priced from $325,000, with the average site around 440 square metres in size. Owners will also pay a rental fee of $130 per week to cover costs like general maintenance and the use of facilities.

The homes come with undercover parking big enough to accommodate most large caravans and motorhomes, with the option of an 'RV Port' that supplies power, water and a dump point.

The project's developers say the residential village in Tinana offers a number of advantages to over-50 ‘grey nomads’, including unlimited access to around $3 million worth of RV focused lifestyle facilities, gated security, and the ability to hit the road at any time in your caravan or motorhome.

On-site facilities include a community centre with library and computer room, 25m heated lap pool, outdoor games area, gym, dog-friendly walking trails and a Happy Hour hut.

An RV wash bay and workshop, pitch and putt golf, half court tennis and lawn bowls rinks are planned for 2012.

The developers are currently offering a saving of up to $30,000 on Stage 1 pre-built homes and display homes, as well as limited opportunities to receive rental income on your new home until you're ready to move in.
