Rural RV show ramps up again

The major RV shows in the capital cities may have been and gone for 2012, but there are still a few chances left this year to see the latest caravans, campers and outdoor accessories in the one place.

Starting with the 2nd annual running of the Border RV & Camping Expo, which will be held at the Wodonga Racecourse -- close to the NSW/Victoria border -- from August 17-19.

Last year's show attracted 14,300 through the gates over three days, and this year organisers, the Caravan Industry Association of Victoria (CIAV), expect the event to be even bigger with around 200 caravans, motorhomes, camper trailers, off-road vehicles, campervans, fifth-wheelers and slide-ons, set to be on display.

Also on show will be a wide range of parts and accessories, tents, annexes, destinations, towing equipment, RV telecommunications products, alternative power and off-road equipment.

“With parking in the centre of the racecourse, there are more entrances for easier access, a special Tourism Precinct and Kids’ Playground, plus lots more food vendors,” said CIAV Chief Executive Officer Robert Lucas.

Also coming to Victoria next month (Aug 24-26) is the National 4x4 & Outdoors Show, which usually has a few off-road camper trailers on display as well as plenty of 4WD, fishing and boating accessories at its Melbourne Showgrounds venue. 

While almost rivalling the Melbourne caravan show at Caulfield in size and scope, will be Melbourne Leisurefest from October 4-7. Held at Sandown Racecourse, it will showcase the latest in boats, RVs, camping, fishing, 4x4 and accessories as well as provide some entertainment at the off-road 4x4 test track.
