Roadstar opens Melbourne outlet
First stage of new Melbourne dealership opens as reborn manufacturer continues to expandRoadstar Caravans has opened a new Melbourne dealership on the forecourt of its shiny new $3.5million factory in Melbourne’s north.
Roadstar Caravans Melbourne located at 828-830 Cooper Street, Somerton is now the sole Victorian dealer for the reborn Roadstar and Compass brands, with long-time rural dealer Cobram Caravans recently relegated to one of 14 ‘official’ service agents in Victoria.
With limited room at the front of the factory to display the rapidly expanding Compass/Roadstar range, the plan is to develop the empty block next door, which was recently bought by Roadstar and is currently being used as a staff carpark.
When completed, the additional outside and possibly indoor display areas should offer a similar experience to what neighbour New Age Caravans offers with its factory-located Caravans on Cooper retail outlet, which also benefits from being in a high-profile location on a busy thoroughfare.
Roadstar has also employed ex-New Age sales manager Brendan Murphy to help expand its dealer network, which currently extends to seven dealers in four states.
Other plans include offering regular factory tours, and setting up a parts and accessories shop on the second floor of the head office building, which has a large window overlooking the busy factory floor.
