RV and road travellers will soon have another reason to visit the sunny north-west Victorian riverside town of Mildura, with a ritzy new holiday park and lifestyle resort set to open in the popular tourist destination located about 4.5 hours drive from Melbourne, from late-2024.
Being promoted as a 'Palm Springs inspired oasis in Mildura", the new Trentham Waters Resort Mildura is the brainchild of former V8 Supercar champ and two-time Bathurst 1000 winner, Rick Kelly, and his father, John Kelly who, with the Kelly family group, ran the high-profile Kelly Racing motorsport team for many years.
“It’s certainly a shift in industries, but we’ve always enjoyed a challenge and this would have to be one of the biggest,” Rick Kelly said. “Our vision is to create a destination that celebrates the essence of relaxation and adventure amidst the iconic Mildura landscape.”
As well as a range of upmarket accommodation options, including architecturally designed villas, luxurious river retreats with wood-fired hot tubs, and glamping tents, RV travellers and campers will also be catered for with a number of pet-friendly, powered, ensuite and drive-through powered sites.
One of the drawcards of the new resort will be its in-house restaurant overlooking a 48-metre lagoon swimming pool and spa, surrounded by palm trees. The lifestyle park will also cater to families, with a kid’s pool, splash park, pump track, tennis court, mini-golf course, playground, and games room.
The 240 acre site runs alongside the Murray River, and the resort will also cater to skiing, wakeboarding and fishing enthusiasts with a private boat ramp and jetty, boat cleaning bays, and storage opportunities.
“Our commitment is to create a haven where guests can immerse themselves in the tranquillity of Mildura’s landscape while enjoying world-class amenities and hospitality,” Rick Kelly said.
In addition to the resort, Stage 2 of the project is currently being developed, which will include a 119-home, exclusive gated community called Trentham Waters Living.
“Wentworth council and the region are excited to see the Trentham Waters Resort project come to life after working closely with the Kelly family throughout the planning stage over the last few years,” Wentworth Shire Mayor, Daniel Linklater. “The projected increase in tourism, staffing opportunities, and increased amenity for locals are all exciting prospects for our community”.
