We've seen a few planes converted to camper trailers over the years, not to mention floating caravans...
But did you know that back in the 1970s, there was an actual flying camper for sale from one of the world's biggest RV manufacturers?
It's hard to believe but America's Winnebago offered for a short period the helicopter-based Heli-Home, which was spruiked to cashed-up outdoor enthusiasts as "the high road to recreation and business".

Best known for its large boxy motorhomes which at the time captured 70 per cent of the market, the American manufacturer decided to offer the futuristic flying camper as a promotional tool to get even more buyers into their showrooms.
It was actually based on an existing flying campervan from Orlando Helicopter Airways, which specialised in converting Sikorsky S-58 military helicopters for various commercial purposes including farming.
For the Heli-Home, the large lower space inside the decommissioned US military helicopter was decked out like a Winnebago motorhome including dinette seating that converted to bedding, a galley with sink and cooking appliances, ensuite with shower and toilet, air-conditioner and space heater, and lots of timber panelling, heavy curtains and shag-pile carpetting, as was the fashion at the time.
Like a road-going RV, there was even a roll-out awning and external lockers for carrying camp chairs and other accessories, for when you arrived at your mountaintop riverbank or other remote setting far away from the camping crowds.

It's believed only eight or so of the unique flying campers were sold in total which isn't surprising considering they cost around US$300,000 when new and required a suitable pilot's licence to get anywhere; not to mention the storage issues and sky-high fuel and running costs.
Scottish vlogger Calum recently posted an excellent video on the history of the Winnebago Heli-Home, which includes an interview with the designer of the original Orlando Heli-Camper.
It's well worth a watch if have you have any interest in unique RVs...
