There are plenty of portable shower systems on the market for campers, but all require some sort of pump and electrical power to work.
But now there’s a new American product called the RinseKit, that’s a bit like having a garden hose on the road and requires no pumping or batteries.
Instead, it works by storing the water pressure from a regular household tap in its patented ‘eon pressure’ chamber, to deliver pressurized spray for up to four minutes.
According to the manufacturer, it takes 20 seconds to fill the eight litre chamber via a quick connect coupler to the mains pressure tap, and the unit can hold pressure for up to one month.
The spray nozzle has seven different settings, from jet stream to soaking shower.
The RinseKit has no moving parts and comes with a built-in ruler to measure fish, and a folding handle.
It also comes with a hot water adaptor, so it can be hooked up to a hot water heater (the unit is insulated) for a warm shower later. Also available soon will be an accessory heater that plugs into a car adapter and heats up the water while your driving.
According to the RinseKit website, the product “was invented to create a better way to clean up after surf sessions” but its now being marketed to all outdoorsy types including tradies and campers.
The California-based company is also working on a ‘Field Fill Kit' which will allow the RinseKit to be filled with still water and then ‘pressurised’ using a standard bike pump.
The RinseKit should be available soon at various retailers including Kangaroo Tent City & BBQs in NSW, where it's being sold for $149.
