Rhinomax updates Discovery hybrid

Another hardcore, solid wall hybrid model joins fastest-growing segment
Just to make the choice even harder, off-road specialist Rhimomax debuted a new top-end hybrid pop-top off-road model at this year's Melbourne Leisurefest.
Sunshine Coast’s Rhinomax chose the show to reveal its new Discovery Mk2, which is effectively a comprehensive upgrade of its first hybrid model launched in early 2015.
While sitting on the same in-house 150mm x 50mm hot-dipped galvanised chassis, the Mk2 offers visibly more interior space than its predecessor, thanks to its new front body profile and squared off rear end.
Moving the north-south queen bed forward, allows the new model to seat up to five adults inside in a 3 + 2 format on each side of its removable, swivelling dining table, without compromising usability of its six-drawer across-the-rear cabinet that incorporates a hot and cold plumbed stainless-steel vanity sink.
Like its predecessor, the new Discovery comes with a large, slide-out external kitchen with three gas burners and a plumbed sink as standard, while there’s cavernous external storage space in its under-bed lockers and front toolbox, the latter incorporating a novel fully-insulated fridge box, lined with the same 30mm panels as the hybrid’s main walls and is topped by a wood box.
A revised external, pop-up rear shower pod with a removable floor for cleaning is also fitted to the new model, while its portable toilet sits beneath one of the interior seats and can be accessed internally.
Like all other current Rhinomax hybrids, the new Discovery sits on Cruisemaster XT independent trailing arm suspension, while it boasts 320 watts of rooftop-mounted solar panels, two120AH AGM batteries and 125 litres of fresh water storage as standard.
The new ‘Disco’ has grown slightly in price and weight over its progenitor at $77,950 and 1710kg tare, but both models will be offered concurrently until Mk1 stops run out.
