Rhinomax releases micro-hybrid camper

New 10ft Scorpion hard-shell model expands Queensland manufacturer’s premium off-road fibreglass camper range

Rhinomax will unveil its latest Scorpion micro-hybrid off-road camper at the South Australian Caravan and Camping Lifestyle Show at the Wayville Showgrounds from February 17-21.

The Sunshine Coast manufacturer says it has leveraged its expertise in the aerospace and high precision engineering industries to produce the new compact hard-shell camper, which will compete head on with Track Trailer’s
highly successful Tvan, the similarly Melbourne-built
Vista RV
and Complete Campsite’s
Exodus 9
.

With a body measuring just 10 feet, Rhinomax co-owner Steve Punton said the Scorpion embodies all the qualities of its larger Discovery sibling but in a more compact footprint.

“The Scorpion has been nine months in the making, spawned from customer feedback and state of the art 3D modelling software,” Punton said.

“We’ve used only the best methods including a full galvanised chassis, independent coil suspension, TIG welded aluminium and reinforced fibreglass panels.

“The Scorpion differs fundamentally from its competitors with the unique space saving interior which includes a full queen size bed that cleverly lifts into the roof space when not in use to reveal a comfortable internal lounge area.

“This frees up valuable living space when required, such as during the day.”

On the outside, a stainless kitchen slides from the nearside locker, offering a three burner stove, sink with hot and cold water and glass splashbacks.

The Scorpion 10 will be offered in two models priced at $45,000 and $55,000 respectively.

The range topping RX lands all the fruit including a larger storage box up front with fridge slide and power, larger brakes, alloy wheels, wind-out awning, external pop-up ensuite pod with hot/cold shower, external water draw facility, internal portaloo compartment and portaloo, additional internal storage drawers, stereo, larger water tank, 300W of roof mounted solar, a comprehensive power pack and LED lighting in all compartments.

With a tare weight of 1160kg and an unladen ball weight of 80kg, the Scorpion is expected to appeal to hardcore off-roaders that value ease of setup, quality inclusions and an attractive price-point.

Newly-appointed South Australian Rhinomax dealer,
The Dirt Camper Trailer Sales & Hire
, will have on display the new Scorpion and larger Discovery hard-shell campers at the Adelaide show, along with a range of other lightweight off-road models including the Track Trailer Mate and Stockman Products Pod Trailer.
