After almost three years selling a range of upmarket rough-road caravans, boutique Victorian retail outlet Melbourne City Caravans has become the inaugural dealer for a new 2019-model line-up released by Melbourne's Salute Caravans.
Like the dealer’s previous range of Grand Salute models, the stylish new Salute Caravans range includes semi off-road and full off-road models, with both couple and family bunk versions available.
Currently on display at MCC’s Cooper Street, Somerton retail outlet are three Salute caravans, including two couple’s vans (a 20ft 6in Sabre and 22ft Governor) and a 21ft 6in family van called the Avalon.
The new Salute vans are built in Melbourne and come equipped for rough road travel, with 6in Duragal A-frames and proven timber frame construction with aluminium composite cladding. All models come with the Cruisemaster DO35 coupling, and buyers can choose from a range of brand-name independent coil suspension set-ups.
All three display models feature spacious interior layouts, including a north-south walk-around queen bed, well-equipped kitchen and leather or leather-look lounge/dinette, and a separate shower and toilet.
The range-topping 22ft Governor features an increasingly popular mid ensuite layout, including master bedroom with separate shower and toilet in the front half, with a sliding privacy door to the rear living area that includes a double galley kitchen, washing machine and club lounge.
The 20ft 6in Sabre features a more conventional couple’s layout of queen bed, kitchen, centre club lounge and full width rear ensuite, while the Avalon family van adds two bunks alongside the shower and toilet at the rear.
All the display vans require heavy-duty tow vehicles, with Tare weights ranging from 2600kg to 2900kg and a 3500kg ATM. They’re all well equipped for the price ($67,990-$74,990), with a long list of desirable features including pillow top mattress, filter tap, twin battery system with 300W solar power, 190 litre fresh water and 95 litre grey water storage, external hot/cold shower, reverse cycle air conditioner, upright washing machine, and 24in TV with internal and external mounting points.
They also come with electronic stability control, rear vision camera, scupper vent, gas bayonet and roll-out awning, among many other standard features.
As well as a choice of suspensions, external cladding and interior décor, buyers can also choose from a more modern ‘angled’ or retro-style ‘rounded’ side profile for any of the new Salute models.
“After having built caravans for others for many years, this range really is a celebration of the quality and standard that Salute Caravans have achieved in the caravans they produce – something we truly believe deserves to be recognized," Melbourne City Caravans' Cettina Bazzacco said.
"We feel honoured to have had and continue to have the opportunity to work with Salute and represent their brand in the marketplace.”
