Retreat crosses the ditch

New Melbourne-built Aotea caravan arrives in the land of the long white cloud

Melbourne's Retreat Caravans is the latest Australian RV manufacturer to 'cross the ditch' and set up shop in New Zealand.

A New Zealand spec model, the Aotea, is now available from Auckland-based dealer Inside Out RV which also stocks Melbourne-built NextGen caravans.

The Retreat Aotea caravans include many of the features of the Australian-built versions including the latest RXP body construction, composite flooring, and hot dipped gal chassis, and the new van will be available in 23 different couple and family layouts, from 15ft 9in to 26ft body lengths with single and tandem axle set-ups.

Standard diesel heater for chilly New Zealand conditions

All New Zealand-spec Aotea caravans will come standard with a diesel heater, along with a BM Pro battery management system controlling a twin battery and twin solar panel 12V power set-up, and Retreat's latest 'flat stick' furniture.

Aotea means 'white cloud' in Maori and is also the name of New Zealand's sixth largest island which is also known as Great Barrier Island.

Retreat has sold more more 5000 caravans in Australia since it started manufacturing 16 years ago.
