Regent’s new Cruiser slide-out caravan range has shed its pre-production camouflage and gone public, with a production model taking pride of place on the company’s stand at the recent Gold Coast Caravan & Outdoor Expo.
Two other new Regent models with slide-out walls are set to expand the range to celebrate the brand’s 30th anniversary in 2021.
The 22ft RCC220 22ft model joined other brand new 2021 Regent models at the show, all featuring Regent’s new streamlined, round-cornered exterior style, with sandwich-panelled walls over an aluminium frame, flush-mounted windows, and the spare wheel recessed into the rear bodywork.
Like most electric caravan ‘slides’, it incorporates the east-west queen bed that emerges from the right hand rear of the caravan, with its 24in TV rising electrically from the opposite wall cabinet.
The protruding bed section is protected from the elements by an overhead blind, that unfurls automatically as the wall section extends and rolls back virtually out of sight when the wall retracts to sit commendably flush with the Regent’s body.
Extending the bed wall allows easy access to the rear separate shower and toilet bathroom, with a concertina door separating the entire bedroom and bathroom from the front kitchen and lounge area, which is dominated by a large U-shaped lounge with a central table in the nose of the van.
A unique feature of the 2021 Regents is their front boot, whose lid rises vertically on cantilever hinges in a similar manner to the rear boot of German Knaus caravans. A separate stone shield for the vans’ front opening window is conventionally top-hinged, but is recessed into the fibreglass bodywork for a smoother external appearance when travelling.
The twin 9kg gas bottles and their regulator are stone-protected on the Regents’ 150mm diameter A-frame behind a removable fibreglass cover. The smooth bodywork of the 20231 is also protected by Raptor coating on vulnerable areas.
Like the new rigid-walled 2021 Regent Discoverer models, the Cruiser RCC220 has a 17ft electric awning, an electric step, a 270-degree rear camera that syncs with your car’s internal display and 12-inch Alko drum brakes on all four wheels, with 235-section tyres on 15-inch wheels.
A 100AH lithium battery is paired with a single 170AH slimline rooftop solar panel and a Projecta PM300 solar controller., while there are two 95-litre fresh water tanks.
Interior appointments include a Dometic 188-litre fridge-freezer, instant hot water, two roof hatches, a 23-litre microwave oven, a combined 3 + 1 gas/electric hob cooktop with oven and a filtered water tap.
The most impressive feature of all the imported 2021 Regents was their high standard of finish, which was totally in keeping with their price.
The RRP of the Regent slide-out had a show price of $81,450 for the RCC220 version.
