Regent goes full gloss for 2021

All-new four-model, full composite imported caravan range from well-known Aussie brand

It's official!

After 30 years of old-school timber-framed construction, well-known Australian caravan brand Regent is switching to the latest full fibreglass sandwich panel construction for its all-new 2021-model range.

On display at the Green RV stand at the recent Moreton Bay Caravan, Camping, Boating & 4x4 Expo in Queensland, the glossy new Regent Discoverer range includes four tandem axle, full height luxury touring models aimed at couples as well as families.

According to the Regent website, the new range includes two 19ft 6in and 20ft 6in couple's vans, both with north-south queen bed, cafe dinette, kitchen and full width rear ensuite.

There's also a 21ft 6in family van with queen bed, L-shape dinette, kitchen, separate shower and toilet, and twin bunks that convert to another dinette, and a range-topping 23ft 6in couple's van with front queen bed, central ensuite, and kitchen and club lounge in the rear living section.

Fibreglass sandwich panels with XPS foam insulation are used for the roof, walls and floor of the Regent caravan bodies, with fibreglass front and rear moulds that incorporate a Euro-style recessed spare tyre and 'double door' front section with bus-style lifting mechanism to access the front boot.

Tare weights are between 2500kg and 2800kg, with all models boasting a 3500kg ATM to deliver a payload of at least 700kg and close to one tonne in some cases.

The glossy new Regent vans ride on torsion beam suspension with a 50mm ball coupling, and also come with 12in electric brakes, 15in black alloy wheels, two 9kg gas bottles and two 95 litre freshwater tanks. There's also some Raptor front and side protection to shield the glossy panels from flicked up stones.

Family and couple layouts are available in new four model range

Appliances fitted as standard include a Dometic Ibis 4 air conditioner, 24in TV with Winegard antenna, 100Ah lithium battery with Projecta charger and 170W rooftop solar panel, 3.3kg top load washing machine and a 188 litre Dometic three-way fridge.

Other standard features include an audio unit with internal/external speakers, leatherette upholstery, four burner cooktop, grille and microwave, water filter, wireless reversing camera, roll-out awning, and a Lippert sway control system, with a grey water tank, external shower and Wi-fi unit among the list of options.

Like sister brands NewGen and Snowy River, the new Regent vans are largely built in China before final fit-out takes place at Regent's large production facility in Somerton, Victoria.

Once one of Australia's biggest caravan manufacturers, Regent was established in the early-1990s and most recently changed hands when it was bought by the giant Chinese RV Daide Group around seven years ago.

The new full composite Regent vans are currently on display at Green RV's Brisbane outlet, with advertised driveway pricing from $66,990.
