After more than 30 years specializing in custom-built caravans, Regal Caravans is getting into the motorhome business.
Earlier this year the Melbourne-based manufacturer unveiled a long-wheelbase campervan based on a high-roof 2013 Volkswagen Crafter, which was displayed most recently at last week's Melbourne Leisurefest by Regal dealer Cobram Caravans.

While based on a five-year old van with 133,000km on the odometer, the rest of the campervan looked brand new, with plenty of distinctive touches added including some striking external decals, matte black internal fittings, an illuminated footwell and stitched black leather upholstery with Regal insignias.
The layout features a combination shower/toilet, dinette/lounge that converts to a double bed, and kitchen with sink and cooking appliances.

Among the included features were a roll-out awning, TV and antenna, air-conditioning, 90 litre fridge, twin water tanks, microwave, audio unit, two 12V fans, and a battery system.
The 2.5-litre turbo-diesel engined VW Crafter has also had a freshen up externally including painted front bumper and grille, chrome strips, new wheel caps, daytime running lights, while a CB radio and reversing camera have also been fitted.

The show model, which is for sale priced at $88,890, has already enticed a handful of orders, most based on new Mercedes-Benz Sprinter vans and priced accordingly at around $140,000.
As well as turn-key motorhomes, Regal will also convert customer vans or buses upon request.
