South Australian RV electronics specialist Redarc has upgraded its 25 amp, three stage DC to DC battery charger, with new features that allow easier installation as well as ‘smart’ switching to select the best charging option.
Redarc says the ‘next generation’ BCDC1225D in-vehicle charger has separate vehicle DC and solar inputs, to simply installation. The unit will charge from both solar and the alternator simultaneously and has an inbuilt ‘Green Power Priority,’ that will select solar charging first to take the load off the vehicle’s alternator.
The new unit can be used with either standard or variable voltage/smart alternators and will work with 12 or 24 volt vehicle systems. It will charge AGM, GEL, standard lead acid and calcium batteries as well as the latest lithium (LiFePO4) batteries.
In-built ‘protection’ features includes dual battery isolation as well as protection against voltage spikes, overheating and reverse polarity.
Redarc says the compact units are fully sealed against water and dust ingress and can operate in temperatures up to 80 degrees. Like all Redarc products they’re designed, built and tested in Australia, and come with a two year warranty.
