Sunseeker has formally launched its full-height VX range that was shown in prototype form at selected Queensland caravan shows earlier this year.
The tandem axle VX-I9ft 6in is the first out of Vision’s new Coolum Beach factory, and makes its debut this month at the 2021 Let’s Go Brisbane Caravan & Outdoor Sale from October 28-31 at the Brisbane Showgrounds.
The production version of the largest model in the Vision range is substantially the same as the prototype previewed mid-year at the Gold Coast Caravan Show.
It employs the same timber-free construction, with its 30mm thick German-sourced composite body attached to a bespoke Toowoomba-built hot-dipped galvanised steel chassis fitted with Vision’s own tandem airbag suspension and power ventilated disc brakes.
Double-sealed house-designed and built hatches help keep dust at bay, while the water fillers and the manifold that distributes it are housed out of stone’s harm in the Vision’s front A-frame mounted tool box.
Room for a Weber BBQ and a generator on opposing slides is provided in the box behind it.
Inside, the VX is as stylish and well kitted-out as you'd expect in a six-figure priced van, with Caesarstone benchtops fitted as standard. The kitchen comes with a full oven and 224 litre compressor fridge/freezer, while twin Sirocco 12v fans, air conditioning and a top-loading washing machine are also standard in the separate shower and toilet bathroom.
Off-grid power comes from a 150AH lithium battery (upgradable to 300W) and 450 Watts of solar on the roof, all managed by an Enerdrive charging system, while 270 litres of fresh water in poly tanks should allow you to live comfortably off the grid for many days on end.
Better still, the VX-19ft 6in’s price undercuts many of its locally-built tandem off-road rivals, starting at $124,990. The shorter, lighter 17ft 9in single axle version with similar layout is a bit cheaper, at $105,990.
