Another smart new solution for Aussie van owners who want to down the tools on Friday and hit the campsite on Saturday, has arrived down under.
Available in Europe in recent years and now distributed locally by Leisure-Tec Australia, the Q-Box Camping Module is a portable, all-in-one kitchen, storage and sleeping solution, designed to slot into the back of many popular commercial vans and van-based people movers.
"The patented Q-Box Camping Module is perfect for those free-spirited and spontaneous travellers who don’t want a purpose-built recreational vehicle and want to go camping where and when they want at the drop of a hat," Leisure-Tec Australia's Media and Marketing Manager, Adam Olive said.
"Handmade in Germany and tried and tested for over a decade in Europe, you can simply carry the Q-Box using the fold-away handles on its sides and easily pop it in the boot of your van.
"There are no separate parts that you have to collect, meaning there’s nothing you can forget or lose."
Included in the Q-Box kit is a fold-out bed with 100mm thick foam mattress, a slide-out drawer with splash guards and a spot for a small cooker, and another compartment with a slide-out big enough for a 47 litre fridge. A third section has storage space for the camp chairs and two containers holding up to 20 litres of drinking water, plus there's a sink and worktop area.
Keeping it all neat and compact is the 1340mm x 1950mm, 180kg load rated bed that folds up nicely on top of the main box when not in use, freeing up space in the rest of the van when on the move.
The folded-up unit measures 1150mm wide, 480mm high and 760mm deep, and weighs 75kg (not including additional items like a fridge and cooker).
It's built to last with aluminium, stainless steel and waterproof multiplex used in its construction, and is designed to fit in to the back of more than 60 different vans including the Citroen Berlingo, Fiat Ducato and Scudo, Ford Transit, Hyundai iMax, Mercedes-Benz Vito, V-Class and Sprinter, Peugeot Expert and Boxer, Renault Trafic and Master, Toyota HiAce, and Volkswagen T4, Crafter and Multivan.
The Q-Box camping module will be on display at the 2022 Melbourne Leisurefest show at Sandown Racecourse on October 6-9, and is currently available online priced at $5999.
