Australia's newest campground and caravan park has officially opened at Peaks Crossing, just south of Ipswich and less than an hour's drive from Brisbane.
The spacious campground located at the Ivory’s Rock Conventions and Events resort, offers a number of powered and unpowered grassy sites for tents as well as large RVs. There are also some budget, two person bunkhouses available as well as 'rent-a-tents' for those who want a camping experience without the fuss.
Other facilities include a laundry, WiFi and public and private bathrooms.
Ivory's Rock Caravan Park and Camping Grounds was originally scheduled to open in March 28, but was pushed back due to COVID-19 restrictions. The new campground will now take its first guests on June 27, with powered sites available for $30 and budget bunkhouses $50 a night.
The 600 hectare property backs onto Flinders-Goolman Conservation Estate (Mt Flinders) and the Ipswich-Boonah Trail, with full access to walking trails around Ivory’s Rock. Guided bushwalks will also also be available from July.
After the school holiday period, the Ivory's campground will be open Thursday to Sunday year round.
While the new facility is claimed to be the first new private camping ground to open in Queensland for over 20 years, upmarket caravan parks like Rivershore Resort along Queensland's Sunshine Coast have been built during that time.
