BIG4 NRMA Treasure Island Resort has been recognised as a leading resort for families by travel review website TripAdvisor.
The Gold Coast-based holiday park was named a winner in three categories of the Travelers’ Choice 2012 Awards, including Top 25 Large Hotels & Resorts for Families in the World; Top 25 Hotels for Families in the South Pacific, and Top 25 Hotels for Families in Australia
TripAdvisor Travelers’ Choice results are weighted by the highest amount of positive comments and ratings made by past guests of an accomodation facility.
Other parks also under the BIG4 banner did well in the survey, including Queensland’s BIG4 Ashmore Palms Holiday Village, which was runner-up in Top 25 Hotels for Families in Australia, as well as the South Pacific category. West Australia’s BIG4 Beachlands Holiday Park, earned the number five spot in the Australian list.
NRMA Treasure Island Holiday Park manager, Brendan Brady, said he was thrilled to be acknowledged as a world leader in the family accommodation industry.
“The award confirms our popularity by the most important people in our business; our guests. We would like to thank all our reviewers for taking the time to share their feedback on us,” he said.
Located 10 minutes north of Surfers Paradise, Treasure Island follows the trend of many holiday parks having more in common with five-star family resorts than traditional caravan parks.
Set in tropical landscaped gardens and not open to dogs, the park boasts a mind-boggling array of facilities and activities for adults and kids including mini golf, tennis, go-karts, kids’ clubs, bar and bistro and a choice of three pools with waterslides.
A dozen different styles of accommodation are on offer at the four star-rated park, ranging from $45 for a powered site to around $300 for a premium three-bedroom villa (off-peak).
The TripAdvisor results are the latest in a string of awards for BIG4 holiday parks, which include gongs at the 2011 Australian Tourism Awards as well as various tate tourism awards.s
