Price rise for cheapest Bruder camper

Upgraded Queensland-built EXP-4 pod camper now starts at $126,500

Queensland's Bruder has lifted the entry price for its smallest and most affordable off-grid expedition trailer to $126,500, or $23,210 more than it was back in Feb 2023.

However, the cutting-edge Brisbane manufacturer has upgraded a few features on its latest MY2024 EXP-4 pod camper to help ease the pricing pain, including fitting more solar panels as standard (400W, up from 200W), and more fresh water carry capacity (200 litres, up from 100L).

Other additions include a new internal table and seat, 180 degree free standing awning, a bigger 80 litre internal compressor fridge/freezer, new internal cabinetry for extra storage, and a rear-mounted swing-away hitch for mounting a bike carrier or spare wheel.

Bruder says the patented suspension system on the MY24 EXP-4 with its 12 inches of suspension travel is also 20 per cent stronger and 15 per cent lighter than before.

If you want to spend more, Bruder has also added a new all carbon-fibre body option for the MY24 EXP-4, to go with a long list of other extra-cost options including air-conditioning, remote water pick up, roof hatch, queen-size innerspring mattress, door flyscreens, rooftop tent, annexe kit, 2000W inverter, 12V fan and reading lights, portable induction cooktop, mounted TV and aerial, portable toilet and a microwave oven.

Rear kitchen comes standard with sink, mixer tap, 80L fridge and gas cooker

The MY24 Bruder EXP-4 also comes standard with 18in alloys and mud terrain tyres, hydraulic disc brakes, airbag suspension and an off-road coupling, together with an external shower and tent, dust suppression system, internal and external lighting, diesel hot water and air heater, gas cooker and sink with mixer tap, and a 200Ah lithium battery system with DC-DC 30A charger, external power inlet with 30A battery charger and a power management display.

Designed to be dragged almost anywhere your 4x4 tow vehicle can take it, the EXP-4 is built to last with a fully welded and sealed laser-cut chassis and epoxy-bonded closed cell composite body.

Bruder says the 13ft (body length), 950kg Tare/1850kg ATM pod camper is "body rated to five times (its) own weight minimum" and has been "tested up to 50°C and down to -20°C".

In early-2023 Bruder advertised a new, stripped back entry-level EXP-4 Overland model priced from $89,900, but it's not currently listed for sale on the Bruder website.

Bruder launched the compact EXP-4 off-road hard-shell camper in early-2019, when it had a starting price of $59,950 for Australian buyers.
