Pint-sized pop-top joins Jurgens' line-up

With 1500kg ATM and $32K pricetag, new Wallaroo pop-top is light to tow and light on the wallet

Victorian manufacturer Jurgens Caravans has released its second pop-top model, the new, cut-price 15ft Wallaroo.

Priced from $31,990 (towaway, NSW), the compact pop-top is around $3000 cheaper than the slightly longer but similarly equipped 18ft 2in Jindabyne pop-top introduced earlier this year.

With a Tare weight of 1200kg, ATM of 1500kg and 100kg ball weight, Jurgens says the new entry-level model offers a number of advantages to new van buyers on tight budgets.

“The Wallaroo is ideal for people working to a limited budget who prefer to keep to a small tow vehicle – a towing capacity of just 1500kg is all you need,” Jurgens Caravans’ Managing Director Terry Steel said. “And the lighter weight also delivers fuel savings, particularly over longer trips.”

Two Euro-style layouts are available, both with a front lounge/dinette that converts to either two single beds or an east-west double bed. An L-shaped rear kitchen and various storage options including a robe fill out the rest of the compact interior.

Standard kitchen equipment includes a microwave, three-burner cooktop, 94 litre three-way fridge/freezer, and 12V rangehood.

Other standard features on the two berth, single-axle van include a 60 litre water tank, two 4.5kg gas bottles, double glazed windows, battery, and CD/MP3 audio player with iPod connectivity.

Options include reverse-cycle air-conditioning, curtains, 12V 22in TV, roll-out awning, gas and 240V hot water service, 12V water pump and external picnic table.

Like other Jurgens models, the Wallaroo pop-top features insulated, composite body construction, one-piece floor and roof, galvanized chassis and independent suspension, and comes with a three-year factory warranty.

The new pop-top boosts Jurgen’s fixed roof and pop-top caravan range to six models in total.
