Dealers, manufacturers and anyone else grappling with all the legal and regulatory requirements around building and selling RVs, are being invited to some in-depth information sessions this Thursday (November 9) in Melbourne.
Organised by the Caravan Industry Association of Australia “in an effort to drive a better understanding of federal obligations within the caravanning and camping industry”, the one day Federal Technical & Regulatory Industry Symposium will take place at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Topics discussed include dealer and manufacturer obligations under the Australian Consumer Law and the new Road Vehicle Standards Act, and common problems identified in RVMAP inspections including issues around payload, VIN plate information, and the role of accessories in causing over-width, rear overhang, tyre ratings and load distribution issues. ‘Getting product to market in a technological world’ will also be covered, along with a working demonstration on how businesses can access all 9000 Australian Standards.
The symposium costs $110 to attend and is aimed at warranty and service managers and production supervisors, as well as those who run RV manufacturing, retail or service repair businesses.
“In today’s ever-changing and litigious environment, it is important for industry to fully understand what their obligations are at a Federal level,” CIAA boss Stuart Lamont said. “RVMAP has seen an incredible reduction in the amount of issues identified in the marketplace and we aim to continue to see this trend continue.
“This symposium is a great way to bring a whole range of federal issues and our learnings of what is now over 1000 inspections annually together in a full one day.”
