Queensland's Patriot Campers has turned back the clock and given its latest X1-N hard-core off-road camper an optional 1970s 'Starsky and Hutch' retro look, along with a new multi-purpose roof platform and other desirable off-road goodies.
Rather than having a fixed tent as with other versions of the X1, the X1-N comes with a new ‘X Rack’ roof platform that can accommodate a range of optional roof-top tents as well as camping gear like swags and bikes or kayaks, so owners can load up the camper depending on their holiday requirements.
Patriot Campers’ boss Justin Montesalvo said the new X1-N variant is a return to some of the “original versatility” of the first lightweight X1 camper introduced in 2014.
“For those that love the platform of the X1 but aren’t crazy about our integrated tent - this one’s for you.” the Gold Coast, Queensland based manufacturer said. “Other accessories can also be mounted to the strong and durable aluminium bars - think kayaks, bikes, swags, or any other big boys’ toys you might have collected.”
Fitted standard with airbag suspension, the new Patriot X1-N features all-aluminium construction to keep the Tare weight to 828kg, along with chunky 35in tyres and 12in drum brakes. For those who'd prefer not to stand out too much in the bush, standard colours include blue, green and graphite and white.
The optional 'Desert ops' package includes Toyota Sandy Taupe paintwork with matching MaxTrax and retro vinyl decals, along with an individually numbered hand cast badge located in the kitchen.
Limited to 20 campers, the ‘Desert Ops’ package adds $1000 to the price of the new Patriot X1-N variant, which retails from $39,990.
Other standard features on the Patriot X1-N include a twin battery system with Redarc Manager30 and 350W inverter, gas burner stove, gas hot water system, 155 litre water tank and 16in PCOR alloy wheels.
Other options available apart from the 'Desert ops' package and a choice of roof-top tents, include a 50 or 60L portable fridge, Weber Baby Q BBQ, and lithium battery upgrade.
