Six months after releasing its new innovation-packed range of GEN2 X1 and X3 camper trailers, Queensland's Patriot Campers has ripped the covers off a new entry-level GEN2 model that's not only lighter and cheaper than any other GEN2 Patriot camper but boasts a company-first integrated rooftop tent.
The new GEN2 X2 Tourer model provides a more affordable entry point to Patriot's premium off-road camper trailer range, with its $48,900 starting price under-cutting the GEN2 X1-N base camper by $6000.
While the new X2 Tourer shares a similar hot-dipped galvanised steel Rigilite chassis and patent-pending 'weld-free' body panel construction with other Aussie-built GEN2 models, its main point of difference is a new A-Frame style, hard-shell roof top tent integrated into the body of the camper.
Constructed in-house and a first for the high-profile Aussie RV manufacturer, the two-person rooftop tent features two entry access points, a 1880mm long x 1310mm wide foam mattress, three large zippable windows/doors, adjustable LED lighting and twin USB sockets. There's also a small pole-mounted awning that provides some extra cover around the front ladder entry to the bed area.
The ultra lightweight and compact X2 trailer has a Tare weight of around 850kg, along with a 140kg ball weight and an ATM of 1600kg, and being a Patriot camper there's a generous 2050 litres of sealed storage available from a multitude of wet and dry compartments located on all sides of the camper, including a front toolbox, large rear cavity, two offside lockers and corner lockers for two 4.5kg gas bottles.
Its L-shaped pull-out external kitchen includes a sink with mixer tap, a Dometic twin-burner stove and grille, scratch-resistant stainless steel countertop, a cutlery drawer, spice rack and a slide-out compartment for an optional 75L Dometic fridge.
The Patriot X2 Tourer also comes standard with 150L fresh water storage and a single 100Ah lithium battery with two 120W roof mounted solar panels and a Redarc Rogue battery management system, as well as a lightweight 270 degree style, pull-out awning with integrated poles and guy ropes.
Along with its bush track-friendly dimensions and sub-one tonne Tare, the X2 Tourer is built for hard-core off-roading thanks to a 36 degree departure angle, standard 17in steel wheels with 33in mud terrain tyres, X-Cruise off-road coil suspension, Cruisemaster DO-35 coupling, flip-up jockey wheel, 12in electric brakes, twin 800kg-rated recovery points and an underbody-mounted spare tyre.
Other extra-cost options and accessories available for the new X2 Tourer include an attachable canvas multi-room, a rear storage slide system, airbag suspension, PCOR 17in alloy wheels, Redarc 1200W RS3 inverter, a BBQ Swing Platform for a Weber Baby Q, awning infill panels, a second 100AH lithium battery, Maxtrax, and a diesel hot water and space heater as well as a gas hot water unit.
Styling wise, the X2 Tourer is available in a new Concrete Grey exterior colour, and also features an updated front and rear end and black UV-stable vinyl decals.
"The X2 tourer is a Patriot Camper through and through," the 10-year-old Gold Coast-based manufacturer said. "Constructed from lightweight aluminium, this cutting edge design boasts a smooth finish with hard tooled body panels and compression latches, giving it a sleek and contemporary look."
