A caravan or camper trailer hooked up to a 4WD will only get you so far in the great outdoors. To camp in those really special, unspoilt locations, far away from the crowds, you really need to go in by foot.
For those who don’t mind throwing some gear on their back and hitting the trails, Osprey has released a new range of ‘anti-gravity’ back packs designed to minimise the strain on overnight trekking adventures.
The latest Aether and Ariel Anti-Gravity (AG) pack series now incorporate Osprey’s AG harness system technology, which according to the American company provides a “continuous suspended panel of lightweight mesh extending from the upper torso through to the lumbar area of the pack… making you feel like you are carrying less weight than you actually are”.
Osprey reckons the packs provide better lumbar support than an office chair, as well as keeping your back “well ventilated and comfortable with a long-haul load”.
Suitable for backpacking, thru-hikes and alpine expeditions, the new packs also feature a customisable hipbelt equipped with zippered pockets, as well as dual ice tool loops and bungee tie-offs for tool and trekking pole attachment. An integrated raincover is also included in the price.
They will be available nationally from May 1, in men’s and women’s versions, and with load capacities from 55 to 85 litres. Recommended pricing is $399.95-$429.95. For stockists click here.
