A new Aussie invention, the Oppi portable outdoor shower is a lightweight, compact and reasonably affordable option when it comes to trying to keep clean while roughing it in the bush.
More convenient than a hand-held shower hose or one that hangs from a tree, the Oppi is supported by a telescopic pole that, a bit like your shower at home, can be adjusted for different heights (from 90cm to 1.85m). The pole can either be pegged into the ground or sits on a support base if required.
It provides a three minute shower from a 10 litre bucket of water, and can be used in conjunction with other portable water-heating units. It could even be used in motorhome or caravan shower cubicles when gas or water is scarce.
There’s also a five metre extension lead for connection from the specially designed 12V submersible pump to a vehicle battery, or the rechargeable Li-ion battery pack which offers up to 40 showers per charge.
The water pump is fitted with a removable water filter, for when using river or dam water.
Components are UV protected and ‘splash proof’ and largely manufactured from anodised aluminium tubing to keep weight down.
The manufacturer claims a two minute set-up time, and the various parts store in a compact padded storage bag when not in use.
The Oppi portable shower is available for purchase online, priced at $169.95.
