Australians encouraged to 'keep on camping' in bushfire-affected regions

The peak body for the Australian RV industry is doing its bit to encourage travelers to return to caravan parks affected by recent bushfires.

The Caravan Industry Association of Australia has set up a website showing the current status of a number of caravan parks in bushfire-affected regions, including Victoria’s north-east and alpine regions, south coast of NSW and parts of Tasmania and South Australia.

The participating parks are shown on a map as either ‘Open’, ‘Unconfirmed’, or ‘Closed’, with further information shown including a phone number and date the information was last updated.

As well as a list of state fire and emergency contact details, the Keep on Camping website is also promoting the ‘Empty Eskies’ social media campaign, encouraging people to visit bushfire-affected regions when safe to do so, and ‘buy local’ to assist struggling small businesses that rely on tourists.
